How To Ban Referrer? Any Idea?

someone or some site is stealing my bandwidth and I need to ban this site... how can I set it... i know that .htaccess cannot be use... so any other way?

You can't do it by blocking IP address.

May be some one posted link in some other web site and visitors of that site downloading the movies. Visitors have different IP address and is not possible to block.

The only way i can see is to make the file downloadable only to registered members.

what about it has been referred from others website such as

can it be ban?

Yes, but this need htaccess. Stop all hotlinking.

I see it this way. They are linking to the movie directly. I suggest moving the file to another location (ie in a new folder), or change the filename. By doing this you make the url invalid and they won't get anywhere. also, don't update any url's on your site, to make it look like the files are dead. sooner or later they'll give up.

of course they might not, and then you'll need to place the URL's in a restriced area that you can only get into by a separate password, then people you trust can get in but others can't.

ermm now I know how... put an empty index.html in current directory... if your try to open

.../downloadz/

you will see nothing... ;)

i dont want to banned IP.. I just wanted to ban referrer site. i give you an example....

if you ban IP, most of home user use dynamic IP... so they still can come to your site :P
