I think this is a great post for a few reasons.
For one, Google is the most selective when it comes to links. That means, if you can get a few more links indexed in Google it can have a profound impact on your rankings.
In my experience Google accepts about 10% of the links that Yahoo and MSN accept. That means you could have hundreds of links in Yahoo or MSN and only 10 showing in Google, but those 10 have passed Google's strict guidelines for quality.
As an aside, it is important to note that Google doesn't show you all the links pointing to your site, only a selection, as their webmasters FAQ explains.
However, it is also important to note that Google should not be your focus for your link building. While it is true that Google has things like the PageRank toolbar which can be very helpful when building links, both Yahoo and MSN also use a measure of link popularity when determining rankings. And as I said, they are less selective about which links are considered.
Therefore, while you do want to try and build links for Google, consider the impact those links will have on Yahoo and MSN (and other engines) as well.
