The Island

Michael Bay, in his first movie not produced by long time collaborator Jerry Bruckheimer, helms this futuristic action thriller starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island"—reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet—until he makes a terrible discovery that everything about his existence is a lie…and that he is actually more valuable dead than alive. Together with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson), Lincoln makes a daring escape to the outside world he’s never known. Now, with the forces of the institute that once housed them relentlessly hunting them down, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a desperate race for their lives.

early press screenings have been quite positive... i'm really looking forward to this. michael bay movies are the perfect mindless summer flicks, and this one breaks tradition by actually having a very intriguing premise (although it steals a lot from THX 1138, blade runner and even the matrix). it's opening July 21..

I can't wait to see it. last movie of Ewan McGregor was Star war 3.

I think its gonne be allitle like the sixt day (another clone) movie. But with the useaal special effects this would be a great movie

The film's plot centres around a futuristic colony of people, blissfully unaware of any outside world. After a seemingly random amount of time, they are told they are being moved to "The Island," supposedly a wondrous, utopian paradise. Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) happens upon evidence of the outside world, and becomes curious. His curiosity leads him to spy on the inner workings of the facility, where he discovers the truth; he and everyone else in the colony, save for the staff, is a clone, and when they are supposedly being moved to "The Island," they are really being killed, and their organs harvested for transplant to their "sponsor," or original person, whose need for the organs corresponds to who will "win the lottery." When Lincoln's friend, Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson) is called to be moved to The Island, Lincoln makes a desperate attempt to escape to the outer world, taking Jordan with him.
