The world's first super computer was designed by Seymour Cray in 1976 costing $8.8 million. It- Cray 1, LosAlamos Laboratory, USA - works at 160 Mflops with an 8 MB internal memory. India's own super computers are Param, Anupam, Pace, chipps and flosolver. Indigenously developed super computer works at a spped of one terraflops - Param Padma.
NEC Japan built a super computer working at 35.6 Tflop in 2002.
ENIAC, the first general purpose digital electronic computer, had 18,000 vaccum tubes, 70, 000 resistors and 5 million solder joints, and consumed 160 kW of electricity.
