Problem with public section
My forum has mostly private (only registered users can view/read/post) sections but does have one public section that is open for anyone to read and post in. I have set it in the admin options so that all forums except this one are selected as "REG" for view/read/post/reply, but in the one public section I have it set for "ALL". For some reason, however, when a non-registered person tries to post in this section, it gives them the message "You must be registered to post here". Is this just a glitch that will be ironed out by itself? If not, how can I fix it?

I could really use some help with this...

I may very well be wrong here but I believe that ONLY registered users can post, regardless of whether they can see all or only a few of your forum sections. If anyone has any knowledge of this being incorrect, please let dariusY know as my info only comes from my own forum experience.

I'm sure that non-registered members can post. When the message board first started, there were a few people that posted before registering, their user name just showed up as "anonymous". At some point between then and now it just stopped working.

It does not work that way on my board. ONLY registered users are allowed to post. Perhaps that is just the way I set things up but I, personally, do not want unregistered posters showing up as "anonymous" within my forums. That can create waaay too many problems, particularly with all the spammers (many of whom use filth, drug promotions and other unwanted spam) out there.

Darius,
Have you tried the Simple Mode permissions for the public forum?
