    Default Post-mortem

An autopsy, also known as a post-mortem examination, necropsy (particularly as to animals), or obduction, is a medical procedure that consists of a thorough examination of a corpse to determine the cause and manner of death and to evaluate any disease or injury that may be present. It is usually performed by a specialized medical doctor called a pathologist.

The Chinese were the first to practice the removal and examination of the internal organs of cows. The Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to practice the removal and examination of the internal organs of humans.

Autopsies are either performed for legal or medical purposes. A forensic autopsy is carried out when the cause of death may be a criminal matter, while a clinical or academic autopsy is performed to find the medical cause of death and is used in cases of unknown or uncertain death, or for research purposes.

Autopsies can be further classified into cases where external examination suffices, and those where the body is dissected and an internal examination is conducted. Permission from next of kin may be required for internal autopsy in some cases. Once an internal autopsy is complete the body is reconstituted by sewing it back together.

The prefix 'auto-' means 'self', and so autopsy means 'to see for oneself'; it is used more broadly of personal examination of an object, as well as its specific usage for the post-mortem examination of a human corpse.

Autopsy involves external and internal examination. After the internal examination, the body has an open and empty chest cavity with chest flaps open on both sides, the top of the skull is missing, and the skull flaps are pulled over the face and neck. The body will be stitched to keep the body shape.

    Default Bandra Worli Sea Link

The Bandra Worli Sea Link, officially the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, would be an 8-lane (currently only 4 lanes are in service, 2 dedicated lanes for buses), cable-stayed bridge with pre-stressed concrete viaduct approaches, which links Bandra and the western suburbs of Mumbai with Worli and central Mumbai, and is the first phase of the proposed West Island Freeway system. It has a length of 5.6 km and is the longest sea bridge in India.

The sea link consist of 2 m diameter piles numbering 120 for the cable-stayed bridges and 1.5 m diameter piles numbering 484 for the approach bridges. Shafts are drilled to 6m to 34m depth. The bridge is made with span-by-span method using overhead gantry.

A total of 264 cable stays are used at Bandra channel with cable lengths varying from approximately 85 m minimum to nearly 250 m maximum. A total of 160 cable stays are used at Worli channel with cable lengths varying from approximately 30 m minimum to nearly 80 m maximum. The segment weights vary from 110 to 140 ton per segment. The segment length varies from 3m to 3.2 m

The Rs. 1600 crore ($ 400 Million approx.) project of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is being executed by Hindustan Construction Company. Designs and Project management is by M/s DAR Consultants. The bridge was dedicated to the public on 30 June 2009 by Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The Sea Link is likely to reduce travel time between Bandra and Worli from 45–60 minutes to 7 minutes. The link has an average daily traffic of around 25,000 vehicles on weekdays.

Toll : Rs 50 one way, Rs 75 Return.
