AMRITSAR - Golden temple (Harmandir sahib, 1577) and museum, 65 m long marble causeway through the pool of nectar (Taran Taran tank) to Golden temple, gardens, fort, Durgiana marble temple (16th C), JALIANWALLABAGH - memorial to 379 unarmed martyrs, who were massacred by English Gen. Golden temple Gurudwara provides cheap and nice accommodation for devotees. Enjoy the 'langar', group dining at the Gurudwara. While in the Gurudwara, cover the head with a piece of cloth. No photography in the causeway onwards to the temple. One can climb to the top of the temple to get a close view of the golden domes and the sarovar. The signs of gunshots on the temple walls remind us about the Operation Blue star. The Sikh museum gives a detailed historic information about Sikh religion.
