The temple is located 1 km from Thrissur KSRTC bus stand. The Thaipooyam festival was celebrated on 30 Jan 2010 with a number of colorful 2.5 m high kavadis (more than 100). Few kavadis were more than 5 metre high decorated with peacock feathers. The dancers whirl around with the heavy kavadi on their head. Keeping the kavadi on shoulders and taking rounds (more than 10 at a stretch) is not an easy job. Cheek piercing can also be witnessed (4 in number). The flow of bright coloured kavadis began by 10 am and continued up to 1 pm. The festival proved Keralites are also good dancers and enjoys dance and music.
