Bit of an obvious thing to say but..have you run an anti virus scan? Many worms and trojans will eat into your resources like wildfire making it slower than a snail.
-
formatting is such a bitch
-
iam not able to defragment dude.
i also did the anti virus scan&deleted the files related to the trojan virus.but still it's slow.
-
i format my hard-disc every month...
-
I recommend reformatting it, but backup all your files first, make sure you have all the CD's and product keys, and make sure you can get drivers for the hardware
-
You can install Windows XP again...
Like i said... You can install Windows XP again... it will boost your PC...
But i recomend you format your PC and use Linux. Its much better and you will even forget windows.
-
yeah drivers the most important. especially ur modem ones..
-
Most likely, the trojan you deleted wasn't completely removed, it probably managed to copy itself or something, i think the only option now is to format the whole computer and start again =/ be more careful next time though.

Get my idea... Use imaging - create an image of your HDD (C drive) when it's on it's best , and then whenever your PC is crappy , just restore it in 5 min... : )
btw , I use Acronis True Image , does the work A+ .

Acronis True Image is great.. you can search and download at www.download.com :)
