Whats with this new Google desktop

I agree that it is just a way to index your computer files. However, I find it to be a lot faster and a lot more usable than the functionality built into WinXP. Also, getting to the search bar is more convenient than using Windows explorer in my opinion.

i hate tool bars. i hate it when you download something and it comes with some lame tool bar. i'd rather just type the long address. lol :)

why would anyone need the google desktop ? the windows search function is pretty powerful for just finding files... why waste more space on the already bloated windows systems with an indexing service ? i think google is an awesome serch engine.. but i think a command line tool for windows something similar to "grep" in liux would be much better than google desktop.. but this is just a personal view. :D
