Corbett National Park
Corbett National Park is located in Nainital, Uttaranchal, around 300 km away from New Delhi. The first National park in India which protects Tiger named after the British Jim Corbett. He lived in India and killed the maneating tiger of Rudraprayag, Uttaranchal. This park is named after the famous British hunter - Jim Corbett , who had written 'The maneaters of Kumaon'. Corbett has the highest density of tigers in the country. It was here that the prestigious Project Tiger was launched in 1973.
Nestling in the foothils of Himalayas, the park extends to an area of more than 520 to 1318 sq km (with Sonanadi wild life sanctuary). Varied topography and vegetation gives Corbett a rich diversity in habitat and natural beauty. Flat valleys are interspersed with hilly ridges and the park's rolling grasslands provide an excellent view of its wildlife. Season - Nov - May.
Over 110 varieties of trees, 51 species of shrubs, 33 kinds of bamboos and grasses are to be seen here. Besides the Tiger, Corbett is a heaven for 50 mammals, 580 kinds of birds and 25 reptile species.
Commonly found animals are Elephant, tiger, sloth bear, panther, nilgai, sambar, chital, wild boar, porcupine, peafowl, red jungle fowl, partridge, crocodile, goral, chousingha, Himalayan black bear in the higher elevations, varieties of small cats, the wild water birds, pheasants and the Indian hornbill.

Chilka sanctuary
Chilka sanctuary, Orissa : 400 sq km , Season - Dec to Feb.
Commonly found animals are Flamingo, duck, bar headed sandpiper, plover, ruddy shelduck, gull, tern, white bellied sea eagle, dolphins, fishing cat, black buck, chital etc.
