Drinking good, drugs bad.
Well lets see, I love to drink. And while I do so moderately I understand the need for more at times. And to do so during parties is just great, of course Im speaking of moderation and not overindulgence. Wheres the line? Cant answer that for you, I just know whats real for me.
About drugs, hey I dont even gotta go there, we all know where they lead!

strong will?
my brother is an alcoholic. strong will did nothing for him
what did was getting involved in a program/group that targeted addiction and helped redo life.
and what statistics say alcohol use is up among teens?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drunk driving-related deaths have dropped 31% since 1982. During that year, 25,165 people were killed in alcohol-related traffic accidents in the United States. At that time, 57 percent of all traffic fatalities were linked to alcohol use. By 1993, the number of deaths had fallen to 17,461 and alcohol was a factor in only 44 percent of traffic fatalities.

I think that the problem of alcohol in society needs reform. Alcohol is too widely accepted as something that the youth have access to and will drink, regardless of anything else. It has come to the point where parents will buy it and serve it at parties and a variety of occasions. My ex-girlfriend's mom offered me a number of drinks at a new years eve party (I'm 15 by the way) from beer to liquor and wine coolers. There was a 10 year old kid at my table who had gone through about 5 mixed drinks that had rum in them.
I know the forums tend to gather people from all across the globe, is Europe or Asia facing a similar problem? I think here in America we view Europe as a place where 10-12 year olds can drink legally and its no big deal, it would be interesting to get another perspective on the situation.

I'm quite a heavy drinker, but I'm not a problem drinker. I don't personally believe that alcohol is the problem with society's ills but the people who abuse it.
I see a lot of squaddies and a lot of chavs who cannot handle their beer, but it's because they have never been taught the responsibilities it carries.

Kind of a personal subject with me.... When I was in the Air Force I drank ALOT... My roommate and I would get finish our 12 hour shift at 7am, then drive to the commissary and wait until 7:30, when they could start selling beer.... We would buy two cases, and go back to our dorm room and drink it all or until we went to sleep...
That was a daily thing for about 3 years, with alot of parties thrown in the mix....
Now I am out of the military, have a good job, wife and kids.... I drink on the average a 20 pack of beer in a weeks period....
I stopped the drinking lifestyle within a weeks time, when I got out of the military..... Maybe I am an anomily, but it wasn't that hard... I think most people lack the desire to quit, or cut back, just my opinion...........
