Dell. I have an acer laptop and an acer netbook and they work fine. But Acer doesn't even give half the support that Dell does. I feel safer buying from Dell because if something goes wrong, I know that I can count on them to try to help me. I tried calling Acer customer support a few months ago and got a recording that they're busy. I called again the next day, they were still busy. I called a week later, they were still busy. I stopped calling and fixed the problem myself.

check out the DELL studio laptop line. you can get one loaded and with a 17 inch screen for under $1000.

have been using dell desktops, servers, and laptops for over 10 years at work and home. i think they are every bit as good as HP, and cost less in most cases.

Dell has a much better reputation than Acer. I personally own an Acer netbook. I love it but I know if something went wrong with it, it would be much more difficult and more expensive to fix.

    Thumbs up Acer or Dell

I will suggest to buy a Dell because your high- performance Dell configuration can fully utilize the next generation capabilities of genuine windows vista.
