Ranakpur is one of the five most important pilgrimage sites of Jainism. The Ranakpur Jain Temples were built during the reign of the liberal and gifted monarch Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. Ranakpur is located 23 km from the Phalna railway station. The artistically carved nymphs playing the flute in various dance postures at a height of 45 feet are an engrossing sight. Light coloured marble has been used for the construction of this grand temple, which occupies an area of approximately 60 x 62 metre. In the assembly hall, there are two big bells weighing 108 kg whose sound echoes in the entire complex. The temple boasts 1444 marble pillars each one carved in a unique design.

Kaza is situated at high altitude desert area of Spiti Valley. Spiti is a river which originates from Kunjum pass (4551 m high).

Road access from Kyelong near Manali and from Shimla during the ice free season. Roads are narrow and in bad condition due to flash floods and landslides. During winter Kunjum pass will be covered with ice and Spiti will be cut off from rest of the world. V turns instead of the common U turns. So have an experienced driver for the route.

Kunzum la (4590 m) is 60 km from Gamphu on the Gramphu-Kaza- Sumdo road. The crest of the pass has been marked by a chhorten of stones.
