Winter travel to Chitkul, Himachal Pradesh
Chitkul (3450 m) is the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. Chitkul has houses with either slate or wooden plank roofs, a Buddhist temple and a small tower.
Chitkul is very cold and windy and the road normally closes down around November after the first snowfall. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to lower regions.
How to Reach
Shimla - Theog - Narkanda - Rampur - Karcham - Kalpa by bus (244 km). From Karcham, the road bifurcates from NH 22 and goes via Sangla to Chitkul (40 km). Sangla has cheap hotels and camps provide very good arrangement for living.

The only pass on this trek is the Charang La at an awesome altitude of 5300 m above sea level .The trek is challenging and also rewarding for experienced trekkers.
