Volvo is on a high and we are loving it. After the success of its S80 luxury sedan and the XC90 SUV, Volvo has launched its premiere luxury convertible coupe C70 in India. The country has been enchanted with the earlier models and Volvo hopes that C70 really adds to their market share. Before the car actually lands on our shores we take you for a test ride to take a closer look.



Engine
The Volvo C70 is powered by a 2.5L I-5 Petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 227 Bhp at 4900 rpm and a Maximum Torque of 320 Nm. The engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission which is top of the line. The engine is efficient with a mileage of 16.5 kmpl for highways and 10.3 kmpl for the city. The car can go from 0-100 kmph in just 8 seconds and that's impressive!



Design And Comfort
C70 is elegant, stylish and impressive. Designed by the shamans of car designing, Pininfarina the car has good looks guaranteed. For starters, Pininfarina is the firm behind some most splendid Ferraris and Masceratis that you drool over. An easier recollection can be the Mitsubishi Pajero. So enough about the designers now let's check out the design. The new C70 keeps all the aspects of the older version with a more versatile take. It includes a metallic 3 stage retractable roof. The front is adorned by a chromed front grill and the rhombus shaped headlights whereas the rear exterior is good looking.

Interiors
The interior are dynamically designed too. The seats are provided with adjustments that help in achieving the most convenient seating position in both closed roof and open roof positions. The seat upholstery is available in a wide range of tones, so as to match the passion of the riders. There are audio controls in steering wheel, Premium sound audio system, integrated 6-CD changer with MP3/WMA compatibility, Integrated Bluetooth hands-free system, Integrated GSM phone, Road and traffic information navigation system as standard. There are endless amounts of gadgets available in the car but what all the company includes in the Indian model is yet to be seen.

Ride And Handling
The ride uses the same suspension used in the S80 which includes an Independent struts Front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension. This results in sheer comfort and smooth rides. The shifting is impeccably smooth and accurate. The steering is speed sensitive and handling is fine tuned.

Safety
With passenger safety being a top priority, all the Volvo vehicles are made substantially safe and so is the C70. All the standard safety features such as, First-aid kit, Lockable wheel bolts, Park assist, Power child-safety lock, Protective car cover, Remote-controlled central locking system, etc are maintained to world-class quality standards. Also the car features additional recent age safety systems such as, Anti-submarine protection, Approach and home safe lighting, IDIS intelligent driver information system, Park assist, Passenger airbag cut-off switch, Emergency brake light, Hydraulic brake assist and ready alert brakes.

Volvo C70 Price, Variants And Color
The price of the car will be in the Rs 42 lakhs to Rs 44 lakhs range for the only Volvo C70 T5 variant. The car is available in 13 colors and these are silver metallic, Zanzibar gold pearl, white pearl, celestial blue pearl, black stone, Barents blue pearl, electric silver metallic, black sapphire metallic, flint grey metallic, matt gold pearl, ember black pearl, magic blue pearl and passion red.
