Kerala Entrance Examination
The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, has invited applications for the entrance examinations to be held from April 23 to 26 for admission to professional degree courses in medicine, agriculture, veterinary science, fisheries, engineering, and architecture for the academic year 2012-13.
Paper I physics and chemistry of the engineering entrance examination will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on April 23 and Paper II mathematics from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. of April 24.
Paper I physics and chemistry of the medical entrance examination will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on April 25 and Paper II biology from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on April 26.
Online registration
Online registration can be done on getting the prospectus and security key cards from selected post offices on payment of Rs.700 (Rs.350 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes; Scheduled Tribe candidates whose annual family income is below Rs.40,000 are exempted from the fee).
Submit a common application for all courses by clicking the link “KEAM 2012 online application” on www.cee.kerala.gov.in. Applications can be so submitted till February 14 and the printout of the same, along with documents, should be sent to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 so as to reach the addressee on or before February 15. The prospectus gives complete guidelines for online submission of application.
Eligibility
Applicants should be Indian citizens. For admission to medical courses, including MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BSMS programmes, they should have passed the higher secondary or equivalent examinations with at least 50 per cent marks in biology or biotechnology and 50 per cent in physics, chemistry, and biology or biotechnology taken together. Those with a B.Sc. degree with physics, chemistry, zoology, botany, or biotechnology as main and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries with at least 50 per cent marks for the main and subsidiary subjects taken together may apply for the medical courses. But such applicants should have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and biology as optional subjects.
For admission to agricultural courses, including the B.Sc. (Honours) programmes in agriculture and forestry sciences and the Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc) course, the applicant should have passed higher secondary or equivalent examinations with at least 50 per cent marks in biology and 50 per cent in physics, chemistry, and biology taken together. For admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc.&AH) course, the entry qualification is a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with minimum 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry, biology, and English together.
For admission to the engineering courses, the applicants should have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with at least 50 per cent marks in mathematics and 50 per cent in aggregate in mathematics, physics, and one subject from chemistry, biotechnology, computer science, and biology.
For admission to the architecture course, the applicant should have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with mathematics as a subject, with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate. Those with a diploma with 50 per cent marks in aggregate may apply. Besides this, applicant should have scored minimum 40 per cent marks in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). For all courses, the minimum marks required in the qualifying examination will be relaxed by 5 per cent for SEBC applicants whose annual family income is up to Rs.4.5 lakh. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes need only a pass mark.
Those appearing in the qualifying examination in March and April will be considered for the entrance examination. Applicant should complete 17 years of age as on December 31, 2012. There is no upper age limit.
Venues
The entrance examination will be held at all district headquarters in Kerala, New Delhi, and Dubai. Those who choose the Dubai centre will have to pay an additional fee. Admit cards can be downloaded from www.cee.kerala.gov.in from March 24.
The results of the medical entrance examination are expected before May 25 and the engineering entrance examination result before June 25.
