Ek Tha Tiger’ would be flambuoyant

He may have played a ‘desi’ character in his last two huge money spinners ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Wanted’. He may be playing to the gallery in ‘Ready’ as well. However for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, Salman Khan would be getting into a cool and stylish avtar as he steps into a film which is set at an international scale. Moreover for director Kabir Khan too, it would be a new outing as after making two back to back realistic, though highly enjoyable films – ‘New York’ and ‘Kabul Express’, he would be stepping into a commercial outing of a different kind by giving the film a flamboyant touch.

“Yes, let me admit that ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ is the most commercially accessible mainstream film of mine,” says Kabir who is making his third film with the production house of Yash Chopra, “It is not just the starcast but also the story which is larger than life. The subject demands that the story telling is flamboyant here. Every story demands it’s own style of narrative; same holds good for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ as well.”

One wonders though whether the film allows Kabir Khan to further explore his touch, something that has worked wonderfully well for his first two outings? Would the trappings of ‘masala entertainer’ rob him of his sheen?

“See, what happens is that there are two parts to making a film. One comes from what is inherent to you as a person and a director. Now that’s something that cannot change as there is certain craft which comes into play here,” explains Kabir, “On the other hand, as I said earlier, there is a certain demand of a narrative. If you can blend the two together well, nothing better than that. My endeavour is to do that only. I want my aesthetics to be intact. In case with every film of his, a director’s craft only becomes better. There is a natural growth and evolution. I believe the same has happened to me as well.”
