University of Calcutta, Women’s Studies Research Centre, Alipore Campus, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-700027 has invited applications for admission to an interdisciplinary PhD programme in Women’s Studies.

Candidates should apply in the prescribed proforma obtainable from Calcutta University, College Street Campus. The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written examination of two hours duration to be held in this Centre on 12/09/2012 at 2.00 pm.
The list of successful candidates will be displayed in the Notice Board of the Centre / Calcutta University Website on 19/09/2012. They will have to appear in an interview on 26/09/2012 with a Statement of Purpose / Research brief (500 Words). The final selection for joining this programme will be on the basis of the interview.

Those candidates who have already passed MPhil / UGC / CSIR (JRF) Examinations / NET / SET / SLET / Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the interview.

a) Entrance Test will comprise of:
1. Multiple Choice Questions of 20 marks on Feminist Theory, Feminist Terms and Definitions and Gender Policies
2. 1 Comprehension of 30 marks
3. 1 Essay Type Question of 50 marks
Focus on Essay will be on Contemporary Gender related Topics.
