Cant get web page to star on Index

I just uploaded the index to my website, everything looks fine but when I go to my web adress the first thing it shows its the parent directory. How can i make it go directly to the index page?

And about ur problems "Index.htm"
it should be "index.htm" look at "I"
its apache server so take care of case and extensions

i usually named my index as "index.html" not "index.htm"... just a suggestion....

both "index.html" and "index.htm" work
but the I shud not be capital

It seems the problem was that I typed Index with a capital "I" so the Unix server or the Apache OS did not recognize it as the index.html page. Thanks guys.

By the way is it the Unix or the Apache the onethat does not recognice the index?

Sorry Guttu I did not see what you had repled, did not see the scroll arrow that could take me to more messages. I basically found out what you explained the hard way, experimenting hehe, and the Apaches is the one that does not recognize teh index, ok, thank you very much.
