Kaspersky Security Scan checks how well your computer is protected from dangerous malware: viruses, trojans, and worms. It also checks for vulnerabilities in the operating system and installed applications. After scanning is completed, Kaspersky Security Scan tells you the following:
1. whether anti-virus software is installed on your computer;
2. whether protective firewall is installed on your computer;
3. whether malware is present on your computer;
4. whether there are vulnerabilities in the operating system and installed applications.

Kaspersky Security Scan supports several modes and types of scan.
The following scan types are available:
1. Quick scan. The application scans only system memory and start-up objects.
2. Full scan. The application scans your entire computer, including all hard-disk partitions and removable drives.

The following scan modes are available:
1. Visible scan mode. The Kaspersky Security Scan main window is open, and you can view the progress of the scan.
2. Invisible scan mode. Scanning occurs invisibly in the background. If threats or other security problems are found during an invisible scan, the application main window opens upon scan completion, and you can see the scan results.

The application supports manual and scheduled scans:
1. Manual scan. Scanning is started manually in the main window.
2. Scheduled scan. Scanning occurs automatically on a schedule.

Compatibility
You cannot install Kaspersky Security Scan, if Kaspersky Lab programs are already installed on the user's computer. The following programs have been verified to be incompatible with Kaspersky Security Scan:
1. Kaspersky Internet Security
2. Kaspersky Anti-Virus
3. Kaspersky PURE / CRYSTAL
4. Kaspersky Endpoint Security
5. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for WKS
6. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for SOS
7. Kaspersky Small Office Security
8. Kaspersky Security Scan.

Please Note: not all versions have be verified, compatibility of Kaspersky Security Scan with some versions of these programs, and other Kaspersky Lab anti-virus programs has not been tested.

However, you can install other Kaspersky Lab applications over Kaspersky Security Scan. In this case, Kaspersky Security Scan switches to the limited functionality mode: scanning, database update and displaying reports are disabled. If you want Kaspersky Security Scan to have full functionality, remove other Kaspersky Lab applications.
