The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida, has invited applications for a joint entrance examination to be held on April 27 for admission to the B.Sc. course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration in the Institutes of Hotel Management and Catering technology (IHMCT), including in Kovalam.

The course, jointly offered by the council and the Indira Gandhi National Open University, helps students get knowledge and technical skills and develop a professional attitude essential for the hospitality industry. The examination centres include Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Madurai, Puducherry, Goa, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

Those who have passed, or are appearing for, the Plus Two examinations with English as a subject may apply. The upper age limit is 22 as on July 1, 2013 (25 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes).

Applications can be submitted online on http://applyadmission.net/ nchmjee2013 till April 15. The application fee of Rs. 900 (Rs. 450 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the physically challenged) can be paid through credit or debit card.

A signed printout of the application with a photograph affixed should be sent by registered post to the JEE Cell, National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, A-34, Institutional Area, Sector 62, Noida – 201 309 so as to reach there on or before April 15.

For applying offline, the application form and information brochure will be distributed from December 26 from the institutes.

The filled application forms should reach the address latest by April 15. Admit cards can be downloaded from April 19 using the application number.

BITSAT

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) has invited applications for computer-based online tests (BITSAT 2013) for admission to BE (Honours), B.Pharm. (Honours), M.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. (Tech) courses on its Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai campuses. The test will be conducted between May 14 and June 1. The three-hour test will have objective-type multiple-choice questions.

The branches offered for the BE course are Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Biotechnology.

The M.Sc. courses are in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics and Physics and the M.Sc. (Tech) courses in General Studies, Finance and Information Systems.

Those who have passed, or are appearing for, the Plus Two examinations in 2013 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 75 per cent marks in aggregate in these science subjects and 60 per cent in each and proficiency in English may apply. Those interested should apply online through BITS Admissions before February 15. The registration fee is Rs. 1,750 (Rs. 1,250 for women).
