Default Home Remedies for Sunburn Skin

Steep a large pot of very strong tea using 4 – 6 tea bags. Refrigerate the tea until it’s cold then soak small towels in the tea and apply to burn area. Can also spray the cold tea on burn. The tea could stain the towels, you may not want to use your best.

Vinegar: One part vinegar to one part water, mixed together in a spray bottle and applied directly to the sunburn is supposed to be an effective sunburn relief treatment. A few glugs added to a cool bath is another common one.

Baking soda: If you got sunburned on larger areas of your body, baking soda might be your savior. Prepare a lukewarm bath for yourself and add to it a box of baking soda. Then soak in the bath for about a half hour and you should feel much better.

Super Hydrate: Water is not only instrumental in achieving peak health levels, but proves useful in alleviating sunburn as well. When the sun ‘burns’ your skin, it also dehydrates it. Be sure to drink plenty of water not fluids in order to hydrate and feel better.

Milk: Milk soothes your skin and helps take some of the sting away – either applied directly or diluted in bath water. To apply it directly, add a few cups of milk to a spray bottle, spritz it on the burned areas, and allow it to dry into your skin. To make a bath, pour a half gallon into the bathtub with cool water and soak.

Yogurt: Commonly used as a healing substance for sunburned skin, yogurt of the plain variety, particularly one with live cultures, can be spread on the affected areas regularly until the burn begins to heal.

Mix equal proportions of olive oil and vinegar and apply on the affected area. Wash this after about an hour. This will bring relief from the sunburn.

Natural remedy for healing sunburns is the mixture of a spoonful of glycerin and the juice of a cucumber. The cooling effect of cucumber helps to reduce the itching caused by sunburns.
Applying sandalwood paste or bathing with water containing a few drops of sandalwood oil is extremely beneficial for treating sunburns.

Boil some cabbage leaves and mash them. Apply the mashed cabbage over the tanned and sun-burnt areas. Wash off it after 15 minutes.
