Karnataka High Court today ordered issue of notices to state and central governments, UGC, All India Council for Technical Education and Visveswaraya Technological University on a PIL seeking appropriate action against Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).

The division bench headed by acting Chief Justice K. Sreedhar Rao ordered issue of notices to the above respondents. The PIL filed by Sudhapriya and others, all former students of IIPM, alleged that the Institute had no legal clarity as an educational institution and the authorities needed to take action and restrain them from conferring any degrees to any students.

The petitioners also sought for suitable compensation from IIPM for the loss of their valuable academic years at the Institute.
