CIFNET entrance test
The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET), Kochi, has invited applications for an entrance test to be held on June 8 for admission to its four-year Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science) course.
The programme covers integrated practical and on-board training on ocean-going fishing vessels and is affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.
The entrance test will be held in Kochi, Chennai and Visakhapatnam. Selection is on the basis of the score in an entrance test and an interview and academic merit. Entry qualification is Plus Two with minimum 50 per cent marks each in English and Mathematics and 50 per cent in aggregate in science subjects. Students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes need only pass marks. Those appearing for the Plus Two examinations and awaiting results are eligible to apply. Applicants should be in the 17-20 age group as on October 1, 2013. There are 22 seats. Medical and physical fitness is required.
Application forms and prospectus can be had from the Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi - 16 on payment of Rs. 500 (Rs. 250 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) by demand draft drawn in favour of the Senior Administrative Officer, CIFNET, payable in Ernakulam. A self-addressed and stamped (Rs. 15) A4-size envelope has to be attached, along with a requisition letter and the demand draft, for getting the application form by post. The last date of receipt of the application is May 17. NPTI entrance test
The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has invited applications for a common entrance test to be held on June 23 for admission to a postgraduate diploma course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering at its regional centres in Neyveli (65 seats), Badarpur (65), Durgapur (65), Nangal (40), Guwahati (40) and Nagpur (65). The test will be held at these centres and Bangalore and Faridabad. There are 340 seats. Those with a B.Tech. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or those appearing in the final-year examination of the degree course are eligible to apply. The upper age limit is 27 as on July 1, 2013, relaxed for reserved categories.
Apply online before April 20 on National Power Training Institute - Home with details of the demand draft for the registration fee of Rs. 900 in favour of the NPTI, Nagpur. A recent passport-size photograph has to be uploaded. After online registration, the hard copy of the application, with the demand draft, should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), Nagpur – 440 022, latest by May 3. The course will start on August 19. The fee is Rs. 2 lakh plus service tax at 12.36 per cent. For sponsored category, the fee will be Rs. 31,000 plus tax.
