As per the recent Supreme Court order, the details of the All India Quota seats in MBBS/BDS courses are yet to be made available to the state governments. The court had also barred the state governments from making admission to the vacant All India Quota seats till further orders. Accordingly, the second allotment to the vacant MBBS/BDS seats in various medical colleges in Kerala has been put off. Fresh dates will be announced after the Supreme Court order.
There are 107 MBBS seats and 19 BDS seats lying vacant in government medical colleges whereas government-controlled cooperative medical colleges have 51 MBBS seats and four BDS seats vacant.
Private medical colleges have a total of 286 MBBS seats and 86 BDS seats lying vacant. As many as 105 MBBS seats and 45 BDS seats have been included afresh in the second allotment. Altogether, a total of 549 vacant seats are available for MBBS and 154 for BDS.
