The Kollur Mookambika temple is one of the main Hindu pilgrim centres in South India. The 1200 year old temple is in Udupi district of Karnataka state. The temple is dedicated to goddess Parvati. Devi Mookambika has three eyes and four arms, with the divine disc and conch in her hands. The temple is located on the banks of Sauparnika river at the foothills of Kudajadri in a very scenic environment. The chariot festival (Brahma Ratholsawa) will be celebrated on 24th March 2014.

A 20 tier metal oil lamp (Deepastamba) is in front of the temple. The exquisitely carved golden flag post is nearby. (Dwajastamba donated by Vijay Mallya, NRI businessman)

Entry restricted to Hindus only. Photography is prohibited inside the main temple hall. There are plenty of guest houses and lodges near the temple.

The other chariot festival occasion is during Navarathri festival on Mahanavami day (2nd Oct 2014). On Vijayadashami day, Vidyarambham ceremony is performed from 4 am (3rd Oct 2014).
