    The decisions an employer makes as a result of its selection practices will have a lasting effect on the organization. This may turn out to be either positive or negative, i.e., profitable or costly. Hiring processes normally begin with the need to add a personnel to the organization from internal or external sources. Successful completion occurs when a hiring manager selects a qualified applicant for the job position.

    Determining Availability: The organization assesses their personnel needs and the essential functions for a job position. For newly created positions, a job description normally is developed. Pre-existing job positions may have their descriptions modified or updated to reflect the current business practices and goals.

    Recruiting Activities: Employers may post new vacancies internally first to allow employees a chance to advance in their careers. Advertisements in the newspapers, professional periodicals, radio, television, Internet/company website, and attending college job fairs are methods for external recruitment.

    Accepting Applications: An organization may wish to limit the number of applications received. A deadline for accepting applications is often included in advertisements to prevent continuous applications pouring into human resource offices. All applications received after the deadline are excluded and returned to sender.

    Application Phase: All applicants should be required to complete the official company application form. The information collected on this form is the minimum information necessary to assist with the hiring decision.

    Interviewing: Employers will decide what job and performance related questions to ask job applicants.

    Testing and Evaluating Applicants: Pre-employment testing assists with selection process and should be certified for validity and reliability. The job duties and responsibilities will establish what skills are necessary for the desired level of performance. A systematic method is utilized, quantitative or qualitative, where all applicants are evaluated in the same manner contingent on job relevant items.

    New Hire Orientation Process: The orientation program will include corporate policies, expected work output, training on sexual harassment (all types of harassment), violence in the workplace, Americans with Disability Act compliance, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Occupation Safety and Health Act regulations.

    Thanks for the info, i will be turning 16 soon and so i will need to get a job...
