i dont know to what extent this will speed up the comp, but its worth giving a try.
start > run and type "services.msc".
under the properties of the services, change the startup type to manual of those services which are not important.
(keep a list of what u do incase something stops working)
Character Map and Disk Cleanup aren't hidden. They're in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Maybe in other OS's they are. Im running XP Home and they're not hidden.
Nope not hidden at all and the volcano thing definately does not work.
Ive did the volcano thing in Windows 98. worked in that OS
Yeah, perhaps one more to add:
network connection status monitor = netstat.exe
it shows the connections made to your computer.
run it and you may be surprised how many of the tasks in your PC are actually listening thru TCP ports etc.
commandline: netstat -a
here is another one:
past that in your runboxCode:%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr
you can easly remove msn account's from MSN history list, or from IE's list
good collection of apps.
thank u very much.
Volcano is not working in windows XP sp2, but not sure for other versions
sometimes if ur comp starts sputtering because of lack of ram (doesnt matter how much you have), try typing "ping" in it, if the command comes up really slow, try it again untl it pops up and instantly executes.
As far as I know it just cleans fragments of files in the ram that isnt being used, but i still don't quite understand it.
Try it out, works for me :D
