or...you can have an idea that nobody has thought of...and make people....slowly...adopt it. a new item....a new service...market niche...etc etc.....its the only way to go in this connected day and age.

There are a few problems with doing it this way:
1. The chance of finding something new are really small even though you might think it's so original nobody has thought of it.
2. There no real way of knowing for sure the product will sell much.
3. You have to put alot of money into it and like stated in 2 you might not even win your money back and just end up having lost alot of money.

You dont have to start a new product. In my state a small pizza company has performed brilliantly. They made quality pizzas at a friendly price. The company was worth millions within 3 years, which has now been bought out by domino's. If you can make a quality product at a good price (where it hasn't already been done - could be as easy as a pizza store), then that is the niche in market for you.
