I recently bought this to replace a 350D. That was a smart move. The 450 outperforms the 350 in many ways.

The lens is better quality and now includes image stabilisation.

The screen at the back is much larger - better for previewing your shots.

The nine point focussing is more accurate and a lot faster.

The 450D is not a camera you can carry in your pocket but when you need to take control and get high quality pictures it performs.
