    Default PNG files vs..?

where is the logic in Microsoft?

    - .PNG files, are possibly the best file type for web graphics, and IE still does not support it.

does anyone else know another way of getting such good quality pictures at low file sizes??

i'd be very glad to hear from you!

ps.Gif's are ok, but not when it comes to some of the more complicated images.

so far.. every version of IE i've tried.. png files aren't supported, totally..

for example.. if they use a layer of transparency, it does not work.. you just see white where the transparency should be.

PNGs are partially supported by IE, but alpha transparency isn't. I've never gotten around to testing it yet, but this site provides a solution.

And the use of GIF is not free. Did you know that? If you are using gif, then the company may ask you to pay for it.
Yahoo is already paying thousands and thousands of $$$ a year for using gif pictures. It's just because they don't wanna lose those IE users who can't see PNG properly.

Solution - f**k IE and switch to FireFox.

Agree. Never use GIF if possible, it's not free.
