Linux vs Windows

Windows is best.
Basicaly Linux is knowen for its stability and security.
But I'll like to remember that only experts uses Linux, so it is not thr Linux, which is safe, these are expert users who makes it safe.
If most people will start to use Linux, there may be some people very alert about there security on the net.
And the bad time will start for Linux.

So Windows is simply the best OS ever, in every means.

i'm use Gimp2 for edit picture. Gimp2 same work Photoshop, and i like Linux SuSE that easy to use ;)

emm Gimp2 can install on Windows platform and required GTK+ for use.

1. Photoshop - Still linux don't have a good replacement for Adobe Photoshop, shortly adobe will release Linux versions for Adove Applications.

4. Programs - if you are a software developer and clients use Windows.

sure clients use windows but, the linux compilers are the best available ;)

advantages of linux:

1. It's Free

2. 99.99999% of the software is free, there is a huge amount of open-source software, check out www.sf.net

3. It's inherantly more secure than windows

4. It's more stable, I've been using slackware linux for about a year, how many times has it crashed? none.

There is also the fact that it uses memory properly, it remembers things

5. The gnu compiler collection is the best set of compilers available

disadvantages: it can have a steep learning curve, and is sometimes tricky to configure

as for running windows applications under linux, yes it can be done, with wine but the applications tend to run slower, and games rarely work. Though there are some games which have been released for linux.. unreal tournament, neverwinter nights and doom 3 to name a few

Programming, as others said GCC has a wide valrity of compilers which can produce Win32 codes as well.

i tried linux once and I liked it a lot though it was hard at first to install simple programs.
I'm using xp pro and got no problems with it, so why change
there are a lot of free firewalls and antivirus if you need protection.

i know some people use linux because they dont like bill gates. but most people who uses linux are programmers that i know of. i switch back to microsoft because i like to play games but i cannot make windows emulator to work.


and by the way. why my friends hate bill gates is because he tends to buy programs but if company does not sell it microsoft will make a software same as the one that he failed to buy. Then people will buy the product from microsoft because that is what people is used to. Then thats the beggining of bankrupcy of other companies.
