Here are a few tweaks for you XP users out there...

These Settings will fine tune your systems memory
management -at least 512MB of ram recommended
go to start\run\regedit -and then to the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management
1.DisablePagingExecutive -double click it and in the decimal put a 1 - this allows XP to keep data in memory now instead of paging sections of ram to harddrive yeilds faster performance.
2.LargeSystemCache- double click it and change the decimal to 1 -this allows XP Kernel to Run in memory improves system performance alot
Reboot and watch your system fly ..happy tweakin

The second one is if you never use Msn messenger and cant stand to see it pop up everytime you start OE or IE or Outlook.
Simply :
start, run, in the command line cut and past this:RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove


No more messenger, EVER. you will see an error message and then it will ask you to reboot. do so.

Ever wanted to have your Internet Explorer toolbar to have a picture on it? Well now you can just follow these simple instructions.
XP Professional:
1. Click Start > Run > Type gpedit.msc
2. Click User Configuration > Windows Setting > Internet Explorer Maintenance > Browser User Interface
3. Double click on Browser Toolbar Customization
4. Click on Customize Toolbar Background Bitmap
5. Browse for the new Background (it must be a bitmap image)
XP Home Edition:
1. Click Start > Run, type: regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
3. Right click on an empty spot and create a new string value
4. Name it BackBitmapIE5
5. Doubleclick on BackBitmapIE5 and type in the path of your toolbar bitmap
6. Click OK and close regedit

Ever forgotten your password to your computer on one of your accounts and left yourself "locked out" of that account?

To view all of the user accounts:

1) While logged onto the computer, click on Start>Run>and type in CMD.

2) From the command prompt window, type in net users. This will show you every account that is made onto the computer whether it is hidden or not.

To change an account password:
1) While logged onto the computer to an account that has administrative rights, click on Start>Run>and type in CMD.

2) Type in net user then the name of the account then * and press enter. heres an example: net user administrator * or net user "Joe Smith" * . Put the name in quotes if it contains spaces.

3) From there it should ask for a new password. Type in your new password (type very carefully - the command window won't display what you type) and once more to confirm it. If you get the message that the command succeeded successfully you're all set!!

This tweak is not designed with the intention of being used for bad. But has been used if say children forget their passwords to an account or you need access to the Administrator acount and have forgotten your pass

This is an interesting way to increase the security of your machine further. With the help of this tip, you will need to insert a special floppy disk that you make in order to log on. If you loose the disk, you are locked out.

1)Click on start run and then type in SYSKEY, hit return
2)On the first window that opens you shall need to click on UPDATE
3)On the next window ensure the System generated password is selected. (this is what I reccomend)
4)Also ensure the Store startup Key on a floppy drive is selected click on OKAY (Yes, make sure there is a blank disk in the floppy drive.) follow the prompts closing out of the windows and restart.
5)Remove the disk and restart.

This one is for all of you freaks out there with double and milti boot sequences... If you have more then one OS installed on your computer, but you don't use it very often, then you would probably want to boost up the startup by skipping the OS selection screen.

First make sure your windows is set not to hide "protected operating system files" (by going to Control Panel\Folder Options\View tab, and ucheck the "hide protected operating system files" checkbox)

Edit the boot.ini file in your c: drive, so that the timeout value will be "0" (timeout=0)

This will make your pc skip the os selection menu on startup.

If you ever want to use your other os you can change the value back to what it was in the first place.

OK so you want to know how to insert a seperator in the start menu....hmmmm try this.........

The first thing to do is create a new shortcut on the desktop. Select any file for the target, and under the name of the shortcut, use the trick to add a blank space for the filename (ALT+0160 on the keypad -- making sure NUMLOCK is on). Then click finish.

Next right click the file and choose properties -- change icon. You should automatically be browsing the windows\system32\shell32.dll folder. About 1/4 down the list, choose one of the blank icons (or another icon you may want to use). Then click OK. You can also remove the target. You now have a completely blank icon on the desktop.

Now just drag the blank icon to the XP start menu and you now have a seperator.

Ever get tired of starting in safe mode to get tot he administrator account in welcome screen in XP?

Simple, When at the login screen press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. This will bring up the login screen were you can type a user name and password in.

will not work if some one is still loggedon

Adding useful information to system properties....

I want to share this simple tweak I learned. Please run notepad and paste this text:

Save it as oeminfo.ini in C:\WINDOWS\System 32. You can also create a bitmap file and name it as oemlogo.bmp, save it in C:\WINDOWS\System 32. Now, try to hold down Win key while pressing Pause/break. You'll notice that the text and image you created will appear in your System properties. I hope u enjoy it!

Ever wanted to use the "my briefcase" in XP?
Now you can.Click Start, click Run, type in syncapp and click OK.


An icon should appear on your desktop that says "My Briefcase".

double click it.

it will come up with this window that tells you how to use it.

thats it , you are done.
