.htaccess files are blocked by the server. What do you need .htaccess for? If you uploaded it as part of a forum or blog or some such, it should work just fine without it.

.htaccess is not really a nessacery file. Its only really needed for things like for pointing to custom error pages, and privilideges over folders etc. Some free hosts do allow .htaccess if you really feel you need it.

Please search for another protection script on some script-directories, I think you'll find enoguh alternative ways to protect images, pages, directories or even your whole site

The script I once used put a little code in every page-top-script which pointed out to have a password typed once and remember it as an integer or as a cookie (choices;))

.htaccess is the only way to make errorpages I think though, that's really crappy....
but hey, make a webpage without errors;)

.htaccess has got many other uses other than making error pages.

It is favourite choice for gamming with URIs - Rewrite Engine ON - ...

I heard it could be done using custom error pages, but never tried.

However, public scripts should not depend on .htaccess file, it is more apropriate to be just a script option.

If you say you need .htaccess but your hosting provider doesn't provide it... change provider.

That's negative towards the bizhat team tahzib:P, I'd watch out if I were you:P

.htaccess is a collection of easy scripts, but other scripts combined can take over this functions I read somewhere..

By the way, isn't there a way to request .htaccess on the bizhat server, l;ike requesting more space/bandwidth?
