Default Some Useful Yoga Poses For Cold

Yoga cold remedies need practice to perform. Some of them are highly effective if practiced regularly. Here is a list of representative yoga poses for cold.

    Yoga Shoulder Stand
Yoga shoulder stand (sarvanga asana) is next best to shirasa asana (headstand) in yoga. Lie relaxed on back with feet together and hands by the side. Breathe a full cycle and lift your legs together so much as to lift the hips and trunk too. At this time, you can support of both the hands with elbows firmly on the ground. Let the feet face upwards without swinging. Hold here for 10 breaths and take off your hands before returning to normal position. Exhale while lowering. As you gain in practice, you can do this without the hands supporting your trunk.

    The Bow
Bow is Dhanur asana. Lie down on abdomen and relax for a few breaths. Lift your legs up, backwards, bending at the knees and hold your ankles with your hands. Now, while inhaling, lift up head, chest and thighs with knees clearly off the ground. Now you are completely supported on your abdomen only. Hold it for 4-6 breaths Exhale while returning by retracing the sequence in reverse order.

    Yoga Cat Pose
Rest on knees and palms just below shoulders. Hold your spine as straight as possible and look forward. Crouch inwards trying to round the spine and gaze at navel. Exhale while doing this and take a couple of breaths here. Come back to original position inhaling. Now go forward to the cow stretch from here, by dropping the back and lifting head as much as possible. Return to the original position after a couple of breaths while exhaling.

    Corpse Pose
You need to lie down on your back on a carpet with feet and palms comfortably away from the body. Starting from toes, concentrate on each organ of body in order to relax fully. Let your breaths calm down automatically. Relax in this position for 10-15 minutes.

    Relaxation Pose
Relaxation pose is the same as shava asana or Corpse pose.

All above yoga poses for cold are shown to work on respiratory organs, better than other therapies when practiced as per norms. Further, all yoga cold remedies depend on strict observation of breathing techniques. Thus, additional practicing of pranayama may help better the cause.

    Default Health Benefits of Grapes

    HEART DISEASES
Numerous studies have been conducted focused on the impact of grapes in preventing or slowing down heart diseases.

About 20 years ago, scientists discovered that French people had less heart related health problems than other countries all around the globe. This discovery was called the French Paradox. The main explanation for this was that French people drank red wine with their meals.

Since this discovery was made, more than 300 other studies were carried out, proving that red wine or grapes juice can reduce the risk of heart diseases in time.

It seems that grapes juice or wine block the artery clogging effects of fatty food products.

Coronary heart diseases occur when plaque accumulations build up on the walls of arteries. This can lead to a blockage of vessels supplying blood to the heart (or brain) causing heart attacks (or strokes).

Antioxidants in fresh grapes, known as polyphenols, are responsible for preventing the accumulation of oxidized cholesterol (this was proven in a study that was published in the Journal of Nutrition).

Resveratrol, a polyphenol contained by grapes, protects against arterial wall damage. Another interesting nutrient contained by grapes is pterostilbene. Researchers discovered that this compound can reduce cholesterol and triglycerides by affecting enzymes responsible with the regulation of fat level in our blood.

Other interesting compounds are saponins, located in grapes skin. These substances bind with cholesterol, preventing in this way its absorption into the body. Also, saponins seem to be able to block inflammations.

And this is not all… By drinking grapes juice we accumulate another antioxidant called alpha-tocopherol, a substance that increases blood antioxidant activity by 50%.

Referring to the selection of grapes, it seems that red grapes are the healthiest and best to eat in order to prevent heart diseases.

    2. CANCER

Grapes seem to be very good cancer fighting fruits.

They contain high levels of caffeic acid, a very strong cancer fighting substance.

Bioflavonoids, another nutrient contained by grapes, facilitate the absorption of vitamin C into our bodies and help vitamin C maintain healthy connective tissue in our bodies. They also function as antioxidants, by protecting vitamin C from oxidation and by preventing ruptures in capillaries.

Bioflavonoids provide strength to our cells in the battle with cancerous cells and also help kill cancer cells.

The early mentioned nutrient, resveratrol, also helps in preventing cancer, especially liver, lung, breast and prostate cancer.

As for heart diseases, red grapes are best for cancer prevention.

    3. VIRUSES

In a study conducted at Erciyes University in Turkey, scientists discovered that grapes have an effective antimicrobial action. The study revealed that this action applies for certain bacteria, like Stoph and the famous E. coli.

Additionally, the high concentration of tannin, another polyphenol contained by grapes, can help fight viruses and tumors. Tanin is absorbed in the intestinal tract, where it is most effective in fighting viruses.

    4. AGING

Although we have found that resveratrol has a lot of health related benefits, the list is not over yet. As we have previously discussed, resveratrol is a natural antioxidant that can help reduce heart diseases, the risk of cancer and even brain diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Besides these benefits, resveratrol seems to influence genes controlling the aging process.

According to Harvard Medical School researchers, this substance can restrict calories intake. It activates enzymes that slow aging, thus increasing DNA stability and extending life span by 70%.

Grapes can contribute to reducing the risk of loss of eyesight (a major problem among the elderly). By increasing grapes intake we can reduce the risk of macular degeneration (the main cause of vision loss) by 30-40%.

Although it seems that grapes can have a huge positive effect on the human body, there are some RESTRICTIONS/ WARNINGS regarding their consumption. Here are some of them:

    1. Neither grapes, nor grapes juice are recommended for persons suffering from stomach ulcers, diabetes and obesity;
    2. Eating grapes or drinking grapes juice can cause dental problems. If you have a cavity in a tooth, it is not recommended to consume grapes, as they will intensify the destruction process of the tooth;
    3. Grapes cannot be consumed along with a relatively large number of food products, like: milk, fish, beer, mineral water, melons, etc. The combination of these kinds of food products with grapes can cause serious stomach problems.

    Default Dress Code Tips

Do you often experience nail biting moments when you can't decide what to wear to a particular occasion? Whether you are going out for a movie, to a friend's birthday party or to attend a meeting, being confused about your wardrobe is a common phenomenon. There are different dress codes that suit a particular occasion. What is perfect for a formal function may not be suitable for a wedding. We help you to decide on your wardrobe for various occasions.

    Formal dress codes

Confused about what to wear to office? Most offices have a formal dress code. Women can settle for smart western formals – pant suites or a formal cut skirt and a blouse. Men can settle for business suites or a full sleeved formal shirt, paired with a tie.

On weekends most offices have a casual dress code, when you can wear business casuals. Denims can be paired with polo necked shirts. Women can settle for long skirts, paired with blouses or shirts.

Going for an interview? Wearing formals reflects your professional approach. Mid length/knee length skirts and a formal shirt with a jacket or a scarf goes well for women. Men can wear full sleeved shirts and a tie. Business suites are another option that you can try out.

    Informal dress codes

A friend's birthday party, or a wedding, there are separate dress codes for each occasion. A casual dress that goes well for a birthday party is not suitable for a wedding. A dressy outfit, coupled with matching accessories would be more suitable for a cocktail party or a wedding reception. Sports wear like track suites or your swimming trunks are another kind of informal wear.

    Dress code tips

Dressing according your body type is the most important tip that should be followed.
Adopt a style that compliments your personality. What looks good on your friend may not be suitable for you.
Co – ordinating your accessories with your outfit is very important.

Default Tips to know before wearing Sarees

It is an undeniable fact that the sari adds to the elegance and mystery that surrounds a woman and gives her personality a new dimension. However, today more and more young women are shunning the sari for more "comfortable', less cumbersome' and manageable clothes. Even though, most of the people who are of the opinion that the sari is rather difficult to manage have no doubts about its versatility. The versatility of the sari is best brought about by the following lines." The sari's radiance, vigor and variety, produced by single straight length of cloth, should give us in the West pause and make us think twice about the zipper, the dart and the shoulder pad." The possibilities of a sari as a garment are tremendous and here are two concrete facts to support it. Firstly, several books have been written about the different ways in which a sari can be worn.

Well, if you are one of those people who cannot think of wearing a sari with trousers then, its time to think again. The pallu is one of the most visible part of the sari., on should use every trick in their box to best display an embellished pallu. Another area that can be played around with is the pleats. The double sari, which is in actual fact two different kinds of garments, which are worn as one, is a product of her creative genius.
Avoid wearing a petticoat that is loose or dragging. Ideally, get your petticoats stitched to size.

Make sure that your cotton sari is adequately starched and well ironed. When draping the sari remember to press down the pleats with your hand to keep the sari form flaring out.

Choosing the right accessories is the best way of enhancing your looks. The main reason for this is that your choice of accessory reflects your personality.

Hence, choosing the right accessory is as important as choosing you're the right clothes.

In the case of saris your accessories would include blouses in addition to jewellery, shoes, bags and bindis. Most designers suggest that that it is not a bad idea to experiment with the different kinds of blouses that are in fashion. The good old low back blouse is one thing that never goes out of fashion.

However, the important thing is that the blouse should be well fitted. Coming to shoes. The right shoe with any outfit is one that is comfortable. Matching the colour of your shoes to your outfit is a good idea. Having neutral colour shoes in your wardrobe is an excellent idea as these colours go with almost any kind of sari. Another thing to keep in mind is the occasion.

Weddings and other such occasions demand that you wear shoes that are as grand as your outfit. But, a party in the evening would require you to wear something more elegant. Now we come to jewellery. This is an age old passion as far as women are concerned. The thing to remember here is that jewellery is worn to complement your looks and to overshadow your personality. Therefore, choose jewellery that complements not only your looks but also your style. Daytime jewellery needs to be light-thus pearls, stones and light gold and silver jewellery is a good idea. Jewellery worn in the evening can be heavy and bright. Last but not the least bags have come in a big way as not just beautiful but also useful accessories. What makes choosing bags a much easier affair than anything else is their names as they are classified party bags, evening bags, shopping bags etc. All this information will help you turn a million heads wherever you go. So, head for your wardrobe.

    Default How to Stop Worrying

Anxiety is more than just a feeling. It’s the body’s physical “fight or flight” reaction to a perceived threat. Your heart pounds, you breathe faster, your muscles tense up, and you feel light-headed. When you’re relaxed, the complete opposite happens. Your heart rate slows down, you breathe slower and more deeply, your muscles relax, and your blood pressure stabilizes. Since it’s impossible to be anxious and relaxed at the same time, strengthening your body’s relaxation response is a powerful anxiety-relieving tactic.
If you’re a chronic worrier, relaxation techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, and meditation can teach you how to relax. The key is regular practice. Try to set aside at least 30 minutes a day. Over time, the relaxation response will come easier and easier, until it feels natural.

    • Progressive muscle relaxation. When anxiety takes hold, progressive muscle relaxation can help you release muscle tension and take a “time out” from your worries. The technique involves systematically tensing and then releasing different muscle groups in your body. As your body relaxes, your mind will follow.
    • Deep breathing. When you’re anxious, you breathe faster. This hyperventilation causes symptoms such as dizziness, breathlessness, lightheadedness, and tingly hands and feet. These physical symptoms are frightening, leading to further anxiety and panic. But by breathing deeply from the diaphragm, you can reverse these symptoms and calm yourself down.
    • Meditation. Many types of meditation have been shown to reduce anxiety. Mindfulness meditation, in particular, shows promise for anxiety relief. Research shows that mindfulness meditation can actually change your brain. With regular practice, meditation boosts activity on the left side of the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain responsible for feelings of serenity and joy.
