    Default CBSE or ICSE

    1. Which Board is difficult CBSE or ICSE

Ans. ICSE is difficult than CBSE
    .................................................. .........

    2. Why ICSE is difficult than CBSE

Ans. ICSE is little ahead of CBSE. The course covered by ICSE in 7th standard is done in 8th standard in CBSE.
    .................................................. .........

    3. Which Subjects in ICSE are difficult as compared to CBSE

Ans. In ICSE there is more emphasis on literature. The students who do not like literature and Scoial Sciences finds it difficult. Science and Maths are almost the same in ICSE and CBSE.
    .................................................. .........

    4. Which board is easy for scoring?

Ans. CBSE is more liberal and students can get better marks as compared to ICSE.
    .................................................. .........

    5. Which board should I choose for my kid?

Ans. This depends on the caliber of the child, and his area of interest.
If the child is not so good at language and literature then, it is better to go for CBSE.
If you want your child to take up management roles then, ICSE is far better then CBSE. ICSE gives a good command over language. If you want your child to score more percentage in boards, go for CBSE. If you want an overall better academic growth, go for ICSE because 2% or 5% more is boards does not matter a lot in the overall career. Even if the child becomes an engineer from the best institute, he might not rise in his career if he does not have an excellent command over his language.
    .................................................. .........

    6. Which board is better close to the engineering / Medical entrance exam?

Ans. Both boards cover complete syllabus that is needed for the entrance exams. CBSE being a little easier, the student gets more time to prepare for various entrance exams.
    .................................................. .........

    7. I am in CBSE board, can I switch to ICSE?

Ans. Technically anyone can shift from one board to the other but if you are in higher class, it is not good to change board. ICSE might be little difficult for you.
    .................................................. .........

    8. I want to do MBA which board should I choose?

Ans. If you are seriously planning to do an MBA from some good B- School, you should go for ICSE.

Default CBSE Vs ICSE The Right Choice For Your Child

Much like the socio-economic diversity in India, school education also offers a multifaceted model. Overall, the schooling in India is split in different levels – primary, secondary and senior secondary. The school age begins once the child is three years and is normally completed at the age of sixteen. The secondary and senior secondary level, from grade VIII to XII is the most important in terms of career goals and achievements.

There is often a wide debate on accrediting the best school and the best board governing the secondary and senior secondary education system. The question –What is better for the child, CBSE or ICSE, often becomes serious for the parents, as it is them who have to decide. So far as CBSE or ICSE are concerned, one has to know about their structure and how they function, so as to arrive at any positive conclusion.

Technically speaking CBSE and ICSE cannot be clubbed together, as the former refers to the board and the latter to an examination conducted by a different one. Let us examine the two boards and see what do they offer.

    CBSE and ICSE

CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education is one of the most popular school boards in India. The board is responsible for preparing the syllabus for class 9 to 12th, secondary and senior secondary level. Another important function of CBSE is to conduct examinations based on the prescribed syllabus. It is a recognized board and its syllabus incorporates the national curriculum as well as additional subject matter. The board conducts two examinations – All India Secondary School Examination, AISSE (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination, AISSCE (Class XII).

ICSE on the other hand is one of the two examinations conducted by yet another board, CISCE or Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. It is similar to AISSE conducted by the CBSE. Its (CISCE’s) equivalent for AISSCE is the Indian School Certificate or ISC.

First Dissimilarity – The Medium of Instruction

The first and foremost dissimilarity between the two boards is the medium of instructions approved by the board. Whereas CBSE approves both English and Hindi language as the medium of instructions, CISCE or ICSE does not recommend Hindi.

    Regular and Private Candidates

CBSE is affiliated to a large number of schools all over India. The board allows both regular candidates, who study in CBSE schools, as well as private candidates from non-affiliated schools to appear in the exams. Contrary to this, ICSE does not allow a candidate who has not been studying in ICSE affiliated school.

    Recognition

Both CBSE and CISCE are self-financing education institutions. However, CBSE is recognized by Indian government and ICSE is not. Although the certificates provided by both of them are globally valid, yet CBSE has a better footing in the subcontinent than ICSE. The ISC by CISCE is recognized by many foreign education systems as equivalent to senior examination or high school. Therefore students qualifying ISC are not required to go for bridge courses while seeking admission in colleges abroad.

    Syllabus

The syllabus prepared by CBSE is more suitable for qualifying in various entrance examinations, including the medical and engineering professional exams. The syllabus of ICSE is more detailed and requires the student to remember a lot. CBSE is comparatively easier than ICSE.

    Assessments

One more point of distinction between the two boards is the evaluation and assessment of students. In ICSE, internal assessments are vital and practical tests are aggregated with the overall scores. ICSE lays more emphasis on lab work.

    Environmental Education

The ICSE has made it compulsory to include environmental education as one of the subjects. CBSE does not ask for the same.

Other than examinations and syllabus, the two boards are engaged in a number of education related activities. Research and development is the secondary initiative taken by CISCE. CBSE also has been engaged in similar exercises, including the research on creating better learning environments.

Default What difference between cbse and icse?

What difference between cbse and icse?

The English syllabus of the CBSE is better manageable than that of ICSE/ISC. While a broad-based syllabus is generally percieved to be good (an issue that needs to be debated in the current scenario of focused approach), it increases the load on students, thus leading to stress. A student should be given the option of studying only the basics of the language if his/her interests lie elsewhere. This choice is given in CBSE, not in ICSE/ISC. English is not compulsory even at the Cambridge International Examinations.

    1. The CBSE syllabus is presented in a more scientific manner. The entire syllabus is divided into units and every unit is allotted the number of periods required to cover it in the year and also the weightage of marks it will carry in the examination. Thus, the teacher and student can plan the study of the various segments of the syllabus accordingly. Not so in ISC

    1. The examination pattern of entrance examinations (IIT-JEE & PMT) follows that of CBSE since CBSE conducts these examinations. ICSE has no role in this. This puts those ISC students who are interested in competitive examinations at a disadvantage as they need to reorient themselves to a different system.

    1. The ICSE syllabus (Class X) is very heavy compared to that of CBSE. ICSE has two papers in English, whereas CBSE has only one. ICSE has three papers in Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) whereas CBSE has only one. ICSE has two papers in Social Studies (History & Geography) whereas CBSE has only one. The school bag of an ICSE student is much heavier than that of a CBSE student.

    1. Environmental Education is compulsory at the ICSE & ISC examinations whereas this is not so at the CBSE examination. CISCE, in a panic reaction to Supreme Court ruling regarding EE, rushed into it while CBSE is content to wait a review of this ruling where the matter may be dropped/modified.

    1. From next year CBSE will give only grades in the examination results. This is seen as a progressive move. ICSE has not made such an announcement as yet; it is struggling to keep its head over the waters of internal (mis)management issues which may take quite some time to sort out.

    1. It is a myth that ICSE is well recognized all over the world and not CBSE. Now UCAS recognizes CBSE at par with ISC .

    1. CBSE has in recent years been very proactive in devising new courses that are academic with a vocational slant. It is more responsive to the needs of a dynamically changing pedagogical scenario. The NCERT connection makes it a very pro-active education board and not just an examining body.

    1. The concept of "Front Line Curriculum" has been put in place in CBSE that requires syllabi be done on an on-going basis and 10 per cent of irrelevant or outdated material is replaced with more pertinent matter. CISCE has no academically designed process or programme for syllabi revision/upgradation.

    1. CBSE has well-networked state-and national-level sports (both indoor and outdoor) activities. CISCE has a state and national level essay writing competition and debate.

    1. Examination schedule in CBSE is more student friendly than that in CISCE.

    1. The current leadership in CISCE does not inspire confidence, unlike CBSE and NCERT that has renowned educationists managing the affairs. CISCE's unspoken but obvious policy of keeping out non-angloindians from key positions makes it an insular body with poor prospects for the future. For example, its decision making body, the Executive Committee, does not have a single non-angloindian on it; the Chairman and the Secretary are both anglo-indians with little or no credentials as educationists.

There's not much difference in both the boards in the primary school upto 4th std. After that I believe the ICSE syllabus is a bit tougher than CBSE especially in the high school.

The choice depends on student's interest as if planning to go abroad for your bachelor course then definitely then ICSE is better it would help somewhere but if plans to do bachelor in india only then its better to go with cbse as the institutions in india as most of the top colleges have CBSE based pattern study. For more information about CBSE education and all classes CBSE Samlpe papers you can visit practicepapers.com
