norton is a good firewall, but it paranoid, not to mention the whole norton suite will take over your ram and probaby your neighbour's computer resources as well..za not bad but has its' issues,za leaves behind files upon uninstallion..even worse leaves a registry key at startup lingering behind that causes an error at boot..

i've had experiences with all these..tiny is a very powerful firewall but is more apt for cable/dsl not dialup..my 2nd place goes to sygate technologies firewall..and the number 1 place goes to blackice, not for the novice user.but it is 'the' firewall

We're talking about firewalls NOT anti-parasitic tools.

I use Trend Micro firewall, it's pretty damn good, better than norton's and mcafee's.

Zonealarm Pro is one of the best though.

Trend Micro firewall beats Norton's for sure. McAfee's too I think.
Trend Micro's firewall is stateful, plus has extra features and very good rules.

Windows Firewall is.....pardon me a piece of shit. If you have it on, give yourself a BIG favour and turn it off now.

Windows Firewall is obviously rubbish. I don't "use" it per say. When i leave my computer on during the day I just turn it on. When i come back, i turn it off as it kept mucking up. I just have it on when im not there as a measure of slightly extra security.

    Becuase....

Besides the hardware firewall in my router, I use freeware products like Sygate Personal Firewall and AVG for antivirus.

If you update to service pack 2 for Windows XP, the Firewall is awsum. It locks your system down, people on your network cant even view your Shared Folder unless you let them. If you have nice resources and anofe space, I recomend it. Except you better keep it, it doesnt like to be uninstalled.

    OMG.

If you don't know much on the issue why reply?

Windows firewall is considered by professionals the worst firewall in existance. And I happen to agree.
