    Default My webiste http://snuf.bizhat.com

    Hey,

I need some help please, as I am totally new to web stuff.

I have downloaded SmartFTP and am using Microsoft Front page as my HTML editor. I have uploaded my index.htm file to my FTP site via SmartFTP, but when I load up my website address http://snuf.bizhat.com , I get that page without my index page?

I have deleted the old index.html file, so I do not know what to do?

Can anyone help a nOOb  ?

    Thanks,
    F2B

I checked your web site. I can see the index page, but NO IMAGES.

I right click and take property of the image, it was

    http://snuf.bizhat.com/prorule.gif

I try going to that URL, but it show file not found error, that means you have no file with name "prorule.gif" on the server.

So upload the file prorule.gif to the server, it will work fine.

Make sure you upload Images in BINARY mod and HTML files in ASCII mod.

Yes of course that makes total sense, sorry I'm soo stupid.... up loaded the pic files and all works ok!

I am considering using Dreamweaver as my HTML editor as FrontPage is just crap (but very user friendly). FrontPage is just too "structured" when trying to move pic's and text!

    What are you guys using?

Dreamweaver works magic. Not literally, but in my opinion it's the best. I have the entire Studio MX (Flash, Freehand, Fireworks, ect.) and it's all pretty helpful. I've never used any other type of HTML editor, but my experiences with Dreamweaver have been good enough so I can tell you that it is one of the best.

Dreamweaver is perfect if you're only using html. And it supports a lot of build in javascripts. But when you start using dynamic elements it isn't as usefull anymore but it still works great. I usually make my script in notepad and let dreamweaver check it :p

if you like writing the scripts yourself (without a wysiwyg program) here're a couple of programs that are great

    metapad
    www.liquidninja.com/metapad

metapad tests scripts and supports mulitple extensions (html, php, asp etc)
and it can test the page with the browser of your choice

    notepad2
    http://www.flos-freeware.ch/misc.html
doesnt have all the features of metapad but has script error checking, more apt for php or programing c++ etc
