I use photoshop most of the time for making random images, but there are times that I prefer Macromedia's Fireworks (usually for making buttons and web page templates)

Photoshop .. yes, but ...
do not forget that ImageReady (also included in Photoshop)
can make your banners alive ...
U can easy make gif animations (or edit such an animations)
with it.

Adobe makes lifetime softwares and one of them is this Photoshop. I use version 7. Have seen the power of the CS version also. It is terrific. Amazing. Believe me i have used so many softwares but never found anything as good as this.....it is the ultimate. so go ahead and CREATE....
