Need more information...has this happened suddenly or been a gradual decline?.......do you know WHY you can't defrag your drive (i.e. is it because you cant run the program or because you get a warning..if so what is it?) ....how much space do you have on your hard drive.....do you know how many processes you have running?

Theres quite a lot that can influence a PCs performance so its a bit difficult to know for sure without more info

    Default Try Memtest+

    Visit me at Veera's

Download Memtest+ and run it from the floppy.
If it's a hardware problem there would be decrease in speed values shown.
If it's software then run a anti-virus program, remove spywares, defrag your disk and if all this fails format your disk and reload windows.

Try downloading http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/download.html and take a look at what is running on your computer. Quarantine all processes you don't trust, and follow the instructions for safe removal.

That should seriously help speed up your computer.

If it dosn't, it should at least give you enough room for a defragment or a virus scan with McAffee or Norton.

You can click on start, click run, type in msconfig, then when the box comes up, click on startup...and go through it and turn off things that you do not need, that will make your pc run faster at startup. Above someone mentioned defrag, thats a good idea also.

the only solution for pc speed is to use a new OS like windows lsd optimised for using 100% of your computer
    Try it

    Windows LSD III
