As a raging controversy is going on about remaking yesteryear IV Sasi’s path breaking super hit Avalude Ravukal, Shwetha Menon to do the role made memorable by Seema, the original was re-released last week in Kerala theatres.

Avalude Ravukal (1978), is a trendsetter and the debut movie of Seema. Later Sasi married Seema and the couple is living happily in Chennai. It was one of the strongest portrayals of women in Malayalam cinema. Later in the 1980’Seema became the number one heroine

After the success of last year’s Neelathamara, talks had been going on about remaking Avalude Ravukal. Buzz was that director Alleppey Ashraf would remake the film and Shwetha Menon would essay the role of Raji, the commercial sex worker portrayed by Seema in the original.

But then Shwetha denied the news saying that she is not aware of any such project and has no plans to do the remake. While controversies are raging, the original has been re-released.
