Combat the heat by wearing loose fitting and light colored clothes. You should also wear cotton clothes, as the material allows the air to flow through. Dark colored clothes absorb the heat. So, it is best to wear white clothes or those in pastel shades, as they reflect the light and heat.

Go for frequent showers with cool water. This is perhaps the best way to cool the entire body. You can also keep a spray bottle filled with cold water to spray your face from time to time. This is especially good after you come from outside.

Drink plenty of water and fresh juices throughout the day. This will keep the body hydrated and make you sweat more. Sweating is a natural way for keeping the body cool. You should also avoid caffeine and alcohol to prevent dehydration.

Eat spicy food. Such food will make you sweat without raising the body temperature. Also, it is advisable to indulge in small meals, as bigger and fuller meals make you feel hot. Include cold fruit and low fat dairy products in your meals.

After a hard day at work, put your feet in a bucket full of cool water. This will not only help in keeping your entire body cool, but it would also make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

For a room that receives too much of sunlight, you can hang damp towels in the windows. This, apart from keeping the sunlight out, will also cool the air in the house.

Another way to keep the sunlight and heat off would be to purchase solar screens for your doors and windows. These screens will deflect the sunlight and keep the house cool.

Fill a roasting pan with ice and place it between you and the fan. The fan will then circulate the ice cooled air throughout the room and keep you cool.

Sleep in a straw or bamboo mat. This will help keep you cool, as both straw and bamboo do not retain the body heat. For this purpose, you can also use buckwheat pillows to keep cool. If you have tile or concrete flooring installed in your room, you can lie on it to keep your body cool.

The mint effect does enough to cool your skin and ward off the heat. Try a few methanol products to cool your skin. You can slather a lotion with peppermint, or use a shower with peppermint soap. Using minty foot soak, and powders with mint are other ways of cooling the skin.

The lower you are the better it is. Instead of being at the terrace or on the floor which is right below the terrace, go down. Basement or lower floors are comparatively cooler than the upper ones, as cool air is denser than warm air and tends to remain down.

At night, leave the doors and windows ajar so that the cool air enters the house and the hot air escapes. However, make sure that you donít end up ripping yourself of all the treasures at the hands of a thief, all for cooling down.
