The 12.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix L22 ($119.95 list) point-and-shoot camera—not to be confused with Nikon's compact cameras—brings some unique features to the consumer camera world such as an automatic shot selector. With a 3-inch LCD screen and 3.6x zoom lens, Nikon assures that "you'll be sure to get great pictures" using the Coolpix L22.

Design and Features
Featuring a curved, glossy design that comes in red, black, blue and silver on black, the Coolpix L22 features a slick, minimalistic look. The front of the camera, of course, houses the 3.6x zoom zoom lens and a small, built-in flash bulb just above it. The back end contains its 3-inch LCD display, the standard menu, playback and image controls as well as a small thumb grip.

Inside, you'll find that the Nikkor glass lens is also capable of shooting 640x480 video at 30 frames per second. Also included in the Coolpix L22 is an Easy Auto Mode, which automatically selects the best setting for a given shot from 16 scene modes. To reduce the effect of motion blur, the Coolpix L22 also features Electronic VR Image Stabilization and Motion Detection that adjusts shutter speed and ISO settings to compensate. On top of image stability features, Nikon's original Best Shot Selector returns, which will automatically take 10 shots of a single frame and save the best image, according to the company.

This point-and-shoot boasts a Smart Portrait System as well, which is a series of features designed to optimize portraits. Nikon claims that through the Smart Portrait Mode, the Coolpix L22 can "catch the decisive moment when your subject smiles." Also, this set of tools also includes blink detection to allow you to retake a photo before realizing later that someone blinked in the shot as well as in-camera red-eye correction. Lastly, the camera's Face-Priority AF can automatically focus on up to three faces in the camera's frame. Nikon says that the Coolpix L22, for about $120, is a point-and-shoot that "simplifies your picture-taking experience."
