A national seminar on ‘frontier technologies in radio frequency (RF) engineering’ organised by the Division of Electronics Engineering under the School of Engineering at Cochin University of Science and Technology began here on Friday.

Ramachandran Thekkedath, Vice-Chancellor of Cusat, inaugurated the programme. Dr. Thekkedath said that wireless power transfer and high frequency engineering have a lot of relevance in the present context. He urged the scientists to initiate research on frontier technologies in RF engineering. K.G. Nair, honorary director of the Centre for Science in Society at Cusat, P.R.S. Pillai, head of the Department of Electronics; and David Peter, Principal of School of Engineering spoke. P. C. Subramanian, dead of the Electronics and Communication Department at National Institute of Technology, delivered the keynote address on the occasion. S. Mridula, coordinator of the event, said that nearly 103 delegates had registered for the seminar. Talks on RF IC design, search and rescue beacon, RF ID solutions, wireless power transfer and RF communication were held as part of the programme.
