Another premium luxury car brand will come to Indian shore soon! According to AutocarIndia, Japanese car maker, Nissan Motors, is planning to launch its super luxury car brand Infiniti in Indian market very soon. And the surprise is that the company is not tying up with Hover, the company that sells the regular Nissan lineup consisting of the Micra, the X-Trail and the Teana, but they are coming in with the Shreyans Group which currently imports Maserati, Ducati and Porsche, soon, distribute Ferrari, too.

In 2007, there were rumours about Nissan launching its Infiniti brand in India. But, the Japanese automaker always denied this rumours citing the high 110% import duty and insufficient demand for Infiniti cars as the main reasons. But, with the Indian luxury car market now picking up pace, Nissan believes that this might just be the right time to launch the brand in the country.

The Infiniti lineup contains the G-series saloon range that competes with the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3-series. The M-series saloons rival the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-series. Infiniti also has 3 types of SUVs in its lineup the compact EX series that takes on with the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, the FX series that rivals the BMW X5 and Mercedes M-Class and the large QX series that is positioned to take on Mercedes GL-class and Lexus LX 570.

The launch of Infiniti by Nissan reminds us about another Japanese auto giant Toyota’s plans to bring its luxury car brand, Lexus, in India. But, it seems now that the company has put that plan in the shell as it is busy with Toyota Etios.
