Akshaya Tritiya
Akshaya Tritiya also referred as Akha Teej is considered the most auspicious days of all by Hindus in India. The pious day of Akshay Trithiya falls on the third day (Tithi) of Bright phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) of Hindu month of Vaishakha. The name Akshay Trithiya describes the special planetary positions of Moon, Sun and Jupiter, as on this day all three unanimously come under Mrigshira Nakshatra. Moon and Sun both glow at their brightest level, indicating the auspiciousness of the day.
The day of Akshay Trithiya is considered highly auspicious by Hindus as the day is thought to bring good fortune and prosperity for every one. The literal meaning of Akshay in Sanskrit means imperishable or “never diminishing” and thus the day is believed to be the best time for beginning new ventures or investing money in precious metals and land.
Myths and Legends:
Akshay Trithiya is also referred as golden day of eternal success as the Golden Age or the first of the four Yugas, Satya yug began on this day. Akha Teej also marks the birthday of Sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu - Lord Parshuram. The auspicious day also holds special importance as the holy river Ganga also descended down to earth from heaven on the same day. Vedavyas along with Lord Ganesha started writing the great Hindu scriptures, Mahabharatha on this day of Akshay Trithiya.
The first Tirthankar in Jainism Bhagwan Rishabdev also broke his fasting spell of one year by taking juice on the day of Akha Teej.

Akshaya Tritiya
Akshaya tritiya falls on the third lunar day from Amavayasya(new moon) which occurs during the suklapaksha month of vaishaka.The special fasts and feasts of the vaisaka month begins with Akshaya Tritiya.
The reason for this day to be auspicious is the position of Sun and Moon on that particular day.Every year, Akshaya tritiya falls between April 14th and May 14th.During the period, Sun will be in Aries which is in exalted position and Moon in Taurus which is also in exalted position.
As the Sun, the lord of the planets and the Moon the lord of creativity(sense) are exalted,the day is considered to be an auspicious day in India.If the tritiya day falls on a wednesday or Friday when moon is in Rohini or 4th constellation, the day becomes specially sacred.
It is said that on this day, the Treta yuga had its beginning and the great sage Parasuram, the sixth incarnation of Maha Vishnu was born.
All married women and unmarried girls take part in the pujas and homas.Lakshmi kunera homa is one of the auspicious homa performed on Akshaya Tritiya day.
On the day people throng jewellery shops for purchase under the notion that they would be bestowed with with all the benefits of material plane.As gold is considered very auspicious and safest investment, people in India buy gold on akshaya tritiya.
Why Akshaya Tritiya ?
The word "Akshaya" has a ray of concocted informations right from the day of Mahabharata, one of the greates epic of India.The pandavas had akshaya patra ( where food came in abundance) when they they were in forest(vanvasa). The word "Akshaya" is also mentioned in "Silapathikaram" which is one of the greatest kappiya of Tamil literature.

teej Festival is mainly a festival of Indian women, both married and unmarried. It is festival of swings, bangles, dance, sweet dishes prepared by parents for their daughters, receiving and buying gifts in from of bridal clothes bangles and indulgence in joy and happiness.
