Nokia 5700 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic may look like an elongated 5200, but on the inside it is much more than its predecessor of sorts. For one, it has the functionality of a smart phone and is hence an all rounder. However, playing music is not the function it does best. So, if you’re looking for a phone that excels as a music machine, you’re looking at the wrong phone. But if you’re looking for a phone with comprehensive functionality that delivers the goods at a great price, look no further.

Design and Looks
The design of the 5700 is both aesthetic and pragmatic. It has a large 16 million colour display that offers best-in-range picture quality and is readable even under direct sunlight. The bottom third of the phone hosts the keypad on one side and dedicated music keys on the other. It can be swiveled so that either set of keys face the display. When the music keys are on the same side as the display, the music player is activated automatically. What is strange is the fact that there is no stop key in the music key pad. The volume rocker is present on the left side of the phone and is easy to identify and manipulate simply by touch. The keypad is a charm to use and users can make no errors when typing.

The earphones that come along with the phone are great too but the phone does not have a 3.5mm port, instead, you’ll have to use the connector jack on the headset cable that comes with the packaging to help you connect 3.5mm phones to the 2.5mm port. The phone also outputs weak bass that can be partially augmented by the equalizer but as a camera phone, it does exceedingly well with a 2MP camera coupled with LED flash. Also, it has great organizing functions. The phone is a bit on the bulkier side but that’s understandable, what with the features it packs in.

To conclude phone is definitely a fine example of practical design at its best but sadly, most drawbacks that are pointed out seem to have a direct bearing on the phone’s music playing capabilities.
