M.Sc. applied nutrition
The National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, has invited applications for an entrance test to be conducted on August 15 at Hyderabad for admission to its two-year full-time M.Sc. degree course in applied nutrition.
The institute is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Students who have passed MBBS or B.Sc. degree course in nutrition/ home science/ nursing or B.Sc. degree course in biochemistry or nutrition as one of the subjects can apply.
Duly filled in application forms along with a demand draft for Rs.500 (registration fee) drawn in favour of the Director, National Institute of Nutrition, payable at Hyderabad and attested copies of relevant certificates have to be sent to the Head of the Department, Extension and Training Division, National Institute of Nutrition, Jamai-Osmania (PO), Hyderabad 500007 so as to reach the addressee on or before July 20.
The list of eligible candidates will available on the web site of the institute on July 22.
The result of the entrance test will be published on the web site on August 29. The first counselling will be held at the institute on September 20. Total seats: 16.
IIST Ph.D. courses
The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Valiamala (PO), Thiruvananthapuram, has invited application for a written test to be held during the third week of July for admission to Ph.D. programme in geology, English and social sciences. First class Master's degree holders in basic science subjects and humanities along with NET qualification can apply. The upper age-limit as July 4, 2011 is 28 years.
Application forms can be downloaded from the web site INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SPACE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
Filled in application form along with a demand draft of Rs.250 as fee drawn in favour of the Registrar, IIST, payable at Thiruvananthapuram and attested copies of relevant documents should be sent to the Administrative Officer, IIST, Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram so as to reach the addressee on or before July 4.
The selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview. The selected scholars will get a fellowship of Rs.16,000-Rs.18,000 a month for the first two years. The amount will be enhanced to Rs.18,000-Rs.20,000 after two years based on progress review.
MBA entrance test
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited applications for admission to its management programmes including MBA, postgraduate diploma in management (PGDIM), human resource management (PGDHRM), finance management (PGDIM), operations management (PGDOM), marketing management (PGDMM) commencing from January 2012.
All these programmes are conducted through distance education mode through a pan India network of study centres.
The university will admit the students through an entrance test (OPENMAT) to be held on August 21.
Graduates in any discipline with 50 per cent marks or Bachelor's degree holders with three-year supervisory/ managerial/ professional experience or professional degree holders in engineering/ technology, medicine/ architecture/ law/ pharmacy or Master's degree holders are eligible to apply. There is no upper age-limit for admission to any of these management programmes.

Filled in application along with a demand draft for Rs.550 drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi and attested copies of relevant certificates have to be sent by registered post to the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maiden Garhi, New Delhi – 110068 so as to reach the addressee on or before July 15.
