Women entrepreneurs were felicitated at Dhansura village in Sabarkantha by International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (ICECD) which celebrated its silver jubilee on Wednesday. Over 300 women participated in the first Women's Sammelan by ICECD.

Local MLA Kantibhai Patel gave away awards to the successful women entrepreneurs in presence of the panchayat. These women were rewarded for their spirit of entrepreneurship and outstanding leadership on the political front as well. Among them were Indu Patel and Hemlata Patel who got the "ICECD Mahila Gaurav Award" because they got elected to top positions in the taluka and district panchayats in the last elections. Hina Shah, director ICECD said, "We have plans of going to 11 more districts to enlighten women and help them fight against all odds".

The organization was founded 1986 to facilitate socio-economic and political empowerment of the underprivileged through micro/small enterprise. In 2003 ICECD stepped into Dhansura to motivate women to step out of their sheltered existence, to earn through small enterprises and to contribute to family income.
